Didn’t Get The Results You Wanted 6 Top Tips On How To Get A Graduate Job Regardless! So you’ve finally finished your degree, got your results and even graduated At the moment you may be feeling like the only person who didn’t do so well and that you’re never going to get a decent job in your wildest dreams now. But the truth is â€" there are a lot more people in the same boat as you than you realise. You just haven’t heard from those people because they’ve decided not to share their results with every social media platform on the planet! We understand that you might be in a bit of a tizzy at the moment â€" so to get you on the right track we’ve come up with some top tips on how to get a job with a lower degree than you expected. 1)           Don’t Compare Yourself First things first â€" we’re all different people â€" some people are naturally gifted at certain things and some people have to work particularly hard to get where they want to be. This is just a fact of life â€" so there is absolutely no point in comparing yourself to your super brainy best friend, because it’s just going to make you feel ten times worse. You need to try and get yourself into the job market rather than comparing yourself to every man and his dog. You don’t want to spend so much time comparing yourself to others that you forget about getting yourself a job! Instead of wallowing in self pity, get your act together and try and think about what makes you unique â€" and then focus on that in your applications. 2)           Apply To The Smaller Companies A not so nice truth about a lot of the large scale graduate schemes is that they have a minimum grade requirement. But don’t worry â€" it’s not the end of the world. First of all, it’s still important to keep your eye out because not all graduate schemes have the same requirements â€" so it’s definitely worth a look! But if you find yourself at a loss, have a look at the smaller companies out there. They’ll have a lower amount of applicants â€" so they won’t have to filter out people like the big firms sometimes do. What’s more, with smaller companies, personality is another important factor â€" so it could be that you’re just what they’re looking for both grade-wise and personality-wise.  3)           Experience Is Just As Important At the moment you may be feeling a tad lost but there is so much more to you than a degree. Think about all the valuable experience that you have on your CV that will weigh just as heavy as a high degree grade.  So get yourself out there and get some experience! If you’ve just read this and have no idea what experience you actually have â€" then have a look at our post that will help you to find a job when you have no relevant experience. 4)           Write Yourself A Good Cover Letter You may find that you’ve come across your dream job but they’re a looking for a higher grade than you’ve got. If this happens then write the employer a cover letter explaining that you haven’t necessarily got the grade that is required however you do have certain experience and an amazing personality that will make up for this. This way you can get your message across clearly (just try not to ramble). If you’re struggling to write your cover letter, have a look at our post that helps you create the perfect cover letter. 5)           Don’t Try And Keep Your Grade Quiet Whether you like it or not that’s the grade that you’ve got and if you decide to hide it from your employers it’s quite likely that they will find out later down the line. You’re best to be upfront â€" because lying at the first stage is a big no no. If you’re sitting there thinking there’s no harm in telling a few white lies then have a look at our post that tells you exactly why you should never lie on your CV. Just to clarify; we’re not encouraging you to whine about not getting the grade you wanted across every social network every single day â€" but we are saying that it’s definitely better to be upfront with a potential employer when it comes to your grade. 6)           Be Determined I know it’s difficult but it’s important to pick yourself up and dust yourself off â€" even if you’re feeling pretty deflated So there we go; Bubble’s top tips on how to get a job when you’ve graduated with lower results than you expected!
